EQUITY PRINCIPAL AUDITIONS-

Please prepare a brief song in the style of the show you are interested in. Choosing a song by the composer is not necessary. Bring sheet music; an accompanist will be provided. Please bring a picture and resume, stapled together.
BEAUTY AND THE BEAST
Music: Alan Menken. Lyrics: Howard Ashman and Tim Rice. Book: Linda Woolverton.
Director: Dom Ruggiero. Musical Director: Jeff Hoffman.
Contract dates: June 24 – July 26.
Belle: Early - mid 20s. A classic girl with big dreams, stuck in a small town. Very strong-willed, and caring about the people who treat her well. Should be able to move well. Range: Mezzo soprano, low A - high F, belt and strong mix.
Beast: 30s - 40s. Disgruntled; has found his last hope in Belle. Angry and mean at first; does have a softer, warmer side, but is scared of being vulnerable and weak. Range: Baritone, A to High F.
Gaston: Mid 20s - mid 30s. Tall, very handsome, with a muscular build. Rude and self-centered. Thinks he can have whatever he wants and will do whatever he needs to do to get it. Should move well. Big Broadway baritone with a solid F.
Lumiere: 20s - 30s. Master of ceremonies at the castle. Out to make the most of the cursed life that he lives. A true ladies’ man (or candle, rather) with a French accent and a need to please. Strong comedic actor, excellent dancer and French dialect required. Range: Baritone, A to high F sharp.
Cogsworth: 20s - 30s. Head of the castle; more concerned about keeping his master happy than entertaining the other people who live there. Very proper and high-strung, and does not like things out of the ordinary that conflict with his way of life. Range: Baritone, A to high E.
Mrs. Potts: Female head of the household, very proper in demeanor. Also functions as narrator of the story and as a sort of mother to Belle. Takes care of all the other cursed items/people in the castle. Range: Alto, Low F sharp- high G.
LeFou: Gaston’s sidekick. Physical comedian; good mover. Range: Baritone, B - high F sharp.
Maurice: Belle’s loving, eccentric father. Knows that she is unhappy, and does his best to get them away from their small town by inventing crazy machines. Range: Baritone, B flat – High D flat.
Madame de la Grand Bouche: Former opera diva turned into an enchanted wardrobe. Helps Belle somewhat. Range: Mezzo soprano, C sharp - D. Ensemble.
SHOW BOAT
Music: Jerome Kern. Lyrics: P.G. Wodehouse and Oscar Hammerstein II. Book: Oscar Hammerstein II.
Director TBA. Musical Director: Nathan Perry.
Contract dates: July 15 – August 23.
Magnolia: 20s. Lovely, spirited young woman. Strong actress with a beautiful high legit soprano voice.
Julie: 30ish. Sultry, strong and vulnerable dark-haired beauty. Strong actress with a beautiful mezzo mix voice.
Gaylord Ravenal: Mid - late 20s. Handsome leading man, dashing and appealing. Good actor with a baritone/tenor range.
Capt. Andy: 45 - 60. Commanding, lovable. Actor must have great comedic timing. Not much singing.
Parthy: 45 - 60. Stern, cranky New England matron. Strong actress with comedic skills. Non-singing.
Joe: 20 – 40, African American. Requires a great actor with powerful presence. Solid bass/low baritone.
Queenie: 30s. African American matriarch. Warm, loving and winning. Good actress with comedic edge. Mezzo with belt. Movement a plus.
Ellie: 30s. Goofy and quirky winsome woman. Good comedic skills, soprano w/belt, dance skills a must.
Frank: 30s. Funny and off-beat charming man. Good comedic skills, baritone, dance skills a must.
Steve: 30ish. Julie’s husband. Handsome and strong. Good actor. Non-singing role.
THE PRODUCERS
Music/Lyrics: Mel Brooks. Book: Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan. Director: Larry Raben. Musical Director: Jeff Buchsbaum.
Contract Dates: August 12 - September 13.
Max Bialystock: 50s. Larger-than-life character. Overweight. Excellent comedian; capable of carrying the show. Self-dramatizing Broadway producer with questionable ethics. Range: Baritone/tenor up to G, strong belt.
Leo Bloom: 30 – 35. Low-level accountant; has big dreams of becoming a Broadway producer. Very easily persuaded; doesn’t have much will of his own. Very comedic in his obsession with his baby blanket whenever times get hard. Range: Baritone/tenor, up to G.
Franz Liebkind: German. Eccentric pigeon-owner and playwright in lederhosen and a German army helmet. Writes the worst musical (in Max’s eyes), and goes over the top to make sure that his dream show - that shows Hitler in a good light - is done well. Range: Baritone, up to G.
Roger De Bris: Flamboyant and bad director. Reveals his love for women’s clothing in his first scene. Loves musicals and his take on them and everything dramatic, and doesn’t like when things clash with his artistic vision. Range: High baritone up to solid G.
Carmen Ghia: Roger’s gay and flashy assistant; has a knack for over-dramatizing small actions like opening a door. Very arrogant and diva-ish. In love with not only Roger, but everything he does as well. Very comedic actor required. Tenor with strong very high notes, or at least strong falsetto. Range: High baritone/tenor up to G, with strong high falsetto.
Ulla: Swedish. Tall, blonde knockout. This girl is not a pushover, and knows how to get what she wants out of the people around her. Must be able to move well, have great comedic skills, and be able to fake a Swedish accent. Range: Belt voice to E flat, head mix to G sharp.
THE WEDDING SINGER
Music: Matthew Sklar. Lyrics: Chad Beguelin. Book: Chad Beguelin and Tim Herlihy.
Director: Keith Andrews. Musical Director TBA.
Contract dates: September 2 – October 4.
Robbie Hart: Man, 20s - 30s. Lead. The best wedding singer in the business because of his obsession with love and making people happy. Begins to lose his love when he is left at the altar, but still looks for things to make him happy… like playing the piano and going out with his newfound friend, Julia. Competent dance required. Range: B (below middle C) – Bb.
Sammy: Man, 20s - 30s. Slick. Tries to be a ladies’ man, but is very likable because of his warm heart. He is the wedding band’s bass player and a true friend to Robby. Although he always seems to be after the ladies, he is really searching for “the one”, and finds her in Holly. Dance ability required. Range: D (above middle C) – Gb.
Glen Guglia: Man, 20s - 30s. Engaged to Julia, but cheats on her because of his arrogant, can-do- whatever-he-wants attitude. Always looking for the bigger, better deal, he loves money, beer and making people feel lower than himself with all his expensive toys. Wall Street-type, clean-cut and respectableslooking. Must be a strong mover. Range: D (above middle C) – Bb.
Holly: Woman, 20s - 30s. Attractive. 1980’s Madonna wannabe. Wants to put herself out there because she thinks that love will eventually find her if she’s available. A good sister with a good heart, but sometimes shallow in appearance. Must be very strong mover/dancer, actually a triple threat. Must have good comic chops. Range: A (below middle C) – E.
Julia Sullivan: Woman, 20 - 30s. Sweet, naïve waitress at a reception hall. Doesn’t always see the things in front of her and is easily overtaken by stronger-willed characters. Always tries to do the right thing, but starts to get confused when her emotions and plans begin to change. Dance ability required. Range: G (below middle C) – D.
Linda: Woman, 20s - 30s. Robbie's trashy, shallow fiancée. She leaves him at the altar, but tries to come back as if she’s a changed woman and still in love with him. The ultimate rock chick who is only after attention. Must be able to move well, with flexibility an advantage. Range: A (below middle C) - D (top of stave).
George: A very comedic character. Also part of the band. Very eccentric, but has a big heart and wishes to please people with music and love. Strong dance ability required. Acrobatic, or 80’s break dance an advantage. Range: Middle C - G (top of stave).
Rosie: Comic role. Robbie’s hip and cool grandma who loves him and the life she has very much. Must have dance ability and break dancing ability. Range: Middle C – C.

Please be warmed up and ready to dance when the call begins. Please bring appropriate dance attire and shoes: jazz or sneakers, and character. A contemporary theatre jazz combination will be taught. Some may be asked to stay and sing after all have danced. Please prepare 16 bars of a legit. Broadway standard or pop song that showcases vocal range and personality. Bring sheet music; an accompanist will be provided.

NON EQUITY AUDITIONS- BEAUTY AND THE BEAST
Gateway Playhouse, Bellport, LI, NY (55 miles east of Manhattan), 59TH Season, Paul Allan, Producer; Robin Joy Allan, Artistic/Casting Dir. holding, Non-Equity Auditions for its production of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST(July 9th – 26th), Dom Ruggiero, Director. We are seeking performers that sing AND move extremely well. Vocally we are interested in those with a wide range of belt and mix. Dance will be basic musical theatre staging. Typing may occur. Please prepare 32 bars of an up-tempo song in style of the show and have an alternate choice prepared. Please be prepared for dance call back the same day. (Bring appropriate shoes, sneakers, jazz shoes.) This is primarily a chorus call, however, we may be filling understudy positions and possibly some character roles from this call. Accompanist provided. Gateway Playhouse is on an Equity LOA contract referenced to COST contact, and participates in the Equity Membership Program. All positions are salaried. Housing is provided in Bellport during rehearsal and run.
Auditions will be held Tuesday, April 29, 2008 as follows: Male and Female Singers who move well- 10:30am. Sign up begins at 10:00 and will close at 10:30.
Those not on the sign up list by 10:30 will not be seen.

THE WILL ROGERS FOLLIES
BEAUTY AND THE BEAST
Unique Opportunity to perform with Long Island’s Premier Professional Company.

Looking for kids between the ages of seven and twelve, to perform the roles of Will Roger’s four children in The Will Rogers Follies and the role of Chip in Beauty and the Beast. Rehearsals for The Will Rogers Follies will begin on May 6 and run through May 20. For the most part, there will be after school and weekend rehearsals for kids. There is only a two-week rehearsal period for our productions. There will be a few day long rehearsals right before the show opens. The show will run from May 21- June 14. There will be weekday Matinee performances on: 5/22, 6/5, 6/11, and 6/12. There are 11:00am school show performances on5/29, 6/03 and 6/04.
Rehearsals for Beauty and the Beast will begin on June 24 and run through July 8. Performances will run from July 9- July 26.
Please audition only if you are available for all performance dates.
Those auditioning must have previous stage experience with strong personalities and voices. Please have a song prepared and the sheet music. Accompanist will be provided. You must be able to sing with the piano. Kids cast in the show will receive several complimentary tickets, and professional resume credit.

These auditions are for children only. All adult roles at gateway are cast in Manhattan.
WILL ROGERS FOUR CHILDREN: Will Jr., Freddy, James, and Mary. Great kids with showbiz personalities that can pick up movement.
CHIP: Mrs. Pott's sweet fun-loving enchanted teacup son. Vocal Range: Tenor D-B. Height requirement: Height should not exceed 48.
